Therapies Naturopaths Use
Therapies used by Dr. Eric Muradov ND
We are proud to provide Edmonton modern Naturopath and Alternative Medicine therapies.
We have four Naturopaths at our Clinic that offer Edmonton a range of natural services.
Naturopathic Doctors are trained to offer a wide array of supports, everything from psychological counselling, to Traditional Chinese Medicine to Homeopathy.
We focus on:Dietary Modifications Herbal Medicine Hyperbaric Oxygen |
Dietary Modifications
For many of our Edmonton patients, our Naturopaths start with “cleaning up the diet.”
Emphasizing a wide variety of whole foods and minimizing intake of refined carbohydrates, restricting the use of salt, caffeine, and alcohol is also important for some individuals while increasing clean water intake.
Next, our Naturopaths often offer personalized dietary modifications at our clinic because we use three separate types of food testing - IgG4, Total IgG and occasionally IgE testing to allow us to make extremely individualized recommendations.
Your Naturopath at our office will determine whether Food Allergy or Food Sensitivity Testing is appropriate and which is best for you.
We've run thousands of food allergy and sensitivity tests at our Edmonton office.
Our Naturopaths work with a range of different diet strategies for our Edmonton patients. Low carb, Paleo, AIP, Wahls, Ketogenic, Vegetarian, Carnivore and Low Fodmap are the most common diets we work with.
Your Naturopath at TruMed will pick the appropriate strategy for your health concerns.
There is synergy between Nutritional supplementation and dietary modification so they are often executed by our Naturopaths together.
Herbal Medicine
Dr Muradov uses herbal medicines as part of his Naturopathic practice
Efficacy: Herbal Medicine can be efficacious in a number of areas. Many Naturopaths use herbal treatments.
At our clinic our Naturopaths may use herbs for mood (depression & anxiety), sleep, stress, energy, heart health, infections, endocrinology, pain and cancer.
Safety: Herbal medicines are typically safe treatments. Serious adverse effects are rarely reported in clinical trials for many common botanicals.
Your Naturopathic Doctors at TruMed are trained to anticipate if there will be interactions between your current medications and any suggested herbal interventions.
Research: Many Botanical medicines our Naturopaths use have clinical trials to support their use.
For example, at the clinic we often recommend Rhodiola Rosea for stress and mood which has two clinical trials demonstrating benefit in stress and anti-depressant effects for mood.
Many of the Botanicals we use are evidence based, however, occasionally a Botanical may be recommended by your Naturopath based on its historical use.
IV Therapy
Our Naturopathic Doctors love IV Therapy.
Accuracy: Using IV Therapy, our Naturopaths can deliver precise doses of key substances directly into the blood
Efficacy: Substances delivered by IV route often can be more efficacious than taking those same substances orally.
Safety: Although invasive, in our experience, IV therapy is usually safe when proper doses and administration rates are used.
Rapidity: According to our observations, IV Therapy can provide a rapid effect for many conditions.

Naturopath Therapies
Hyperbaric Oxygen
Our Naturopaths brought Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) to our Edmonton clinic in 2020 — complete with two hospital-grade monoplace chambers that deliver 100% oxygen under therapeutic pressure.
Inside our chambers, your body absorbs oxygen at levels up to 15 times higher than normal, dramatically increasing oxygen delivery to tissues — even to areas with poor blood flow or chronic injury.
HBO supports healing through increased collagen production and new blood vessel growth.
Neuronal support in the brain, for neurons that were impaired by low oxygen (hypoxia), making it an exciting tool for concussion and brain injury recovery.
Metabolic support in cancer care, as hyperbaric oxygen can help counter the Warburg effect seen in tumor metabolism — a key part of our integrative approach to alternative cancer therapy.
Hyperbaric Oxygen can pair with many infusions creating synergistic effects.
Other Natural Modalities
Nutraceuticals & Natural Supplements: Dr. Muradov ND makes heavy use of these as part of his Naturopathic care because standardization allows precise dosing and there is often robust published evidence supporting their use.
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) & Acupuncture: Symptom pictures are used to guide herbal treatment & acupuncture.
Although all the Naturopaths at our office are trained in TCM, Dr. Muradov no longer uses TCM as part of his Naturopathic protocols.
Homeopathy: Energetic remedies are matched to your constitution & symptoms and can be effective if precisely prescribed.
Although all the Naturopaths at our office are trained in Homeopathy, Dr.Muradov does not use Homeopathy as part of his Naturopathic practice.
If you need homeopathy or TCM you might be referred to another Naturopath.
More about Naturopathic Medicine
A recurring theme in Naturopathic Medicine is that combinations of interventions often have additive or synergistic effects.
For example, combinations may be more effective than individual substances.
Our Naturopaths often see this in IV Therapy - the combination of ingredients usually have less of a pronounced effect when given individually but there can be a strong synergy when all are given simultaneously.
Interestingly but not surprisingly because of this synergistic action, many natural substances are sometimes effective at lower doses when they are used in combination with other interventions than when they are given isolation.
Part of the art of Naturopathic medicine includes being able to identify which dietary modifications, nutrients and supplements are most likely to be beneficial which interventions are more likely to be ineffective or unnecessary.
Naturopathic medicine is often highly individualized, and effective support varies from patient to patient.
Luckily, the Naturopaths at our office all have a wealth of clinical experience and can help streamline this process to benefit your care.
