The Naturopath PrinciplesVis Medicatrix Naturae (healing power of nature) - Naturopathic Doctors believe the body has an inherent capacity to heal itself if given the right tools. Our Naturopathic doctors supply you with the nutrients, bio-chemical intermediates and dietary changes your body needs to heal itself and restore proper function. Our Naturopaths at TruMed use carefully measured, well known natural substances to treat our patients and we are well aware of drug-nutrient interactions and nutrient-nutrient interactions to keep our patients safe. Identify and treat the cause - Naturopathic doctors spend a substantial amount of time with our patients and run deep laboratory investigations to identify the causes of your concerns. This is where there is considerable overlap between functional medicine and naturopathic principles. This is why the Naturopaths at TruMed are extremely testing heavy - we go to great lengths to figure out where health concerns originate in our Edmonton patients. Treat the whole person - Naturopaths consider our patients in their entirety - body, mind, spirit. We commonly consider diet, allergy, hormonal function, thyroid and adrenal function, nutrient status, digestive function, sleep, stress, social situations and many other areas in all of our standard evaluations. Naturopathic doctors take the time to understand all related areas in the context of your health. Doctor as Teacher & Prevention - Naturopathic doctors teach their patients on the principles of healthy living. NDs also focus on preventative medicine. More about Dr Muradov:
Why did Dr Muradov become a Naturopathic doctor? That's an interesting question that we're asked fairly often by our patients. Interestingly Medicine always interested Dr. Muradov, in fact, in high school Dr. Muradov would often read a medical encyclopedia nightly. But this was not necessarily the inspiration for Naturopathic medicine. That would come in approximately 2004 when Dr. Muradov was in his second year at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, purchased the "Reader's Digest" Family Guide to Alternative Medicine. This is where he first learned of Naturopathic Medicine and the idea of a "Naturopathic doctor". In a web search that same evening, he found "The Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine," which is where most of the Naturopaths at TruMed have done their training. To learn if this profession was right for him, he sought out a Naturopath (looking in the Yellow Pages!) - and it wasn't easy. Ultimately, Dr. Muradov found Dr. Steve Marsden ND - a Naturopathic Doctor practicing on Whyte Ave in Edmonton who was also a Veterinarian. Dr. Muradov shadowed Dr. Marsden but it was after seeing him with his first patient that Dr. Muradov knew this was a match for him. Dr. Marsden incorporates a lot of Traditional Chinese Medicine into his Naturopathic practice which initially interested Dr. Muradov however he has removed all TCM from his practice and focuses more on Nutritional and Functional Medicine. Why is Dr Muradov interested in Food Allergy and Thyroid health?Dr. Muradov would often spend time at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine library in his fourth year of Naturopathic doctorate, attempting to gather resources before graduation. He found the 2003 Edition of "Wright Gaby Seminars" that is, Alan Gaby MD and Jonathan Wright MD who were medical doctors with a strong Alternative slant. Their practice style resonated deeply with Dr. Muradov as it was a wonderful mix of strong clinical medicine and evidence backed Natural medicine. Drs Gaby and Wright had a heavy lean towards the Thyroid and Food Allergy which Dr Muradov subsequently incorporated into his Naturopathic thought process. Furthermore, as a student and in his first year of Naturopathic practice, Dr. Muradov spent time with Dr. Trethart MD in Edmonton who also had a similar leaning towards Food Allergy & Thyroid. Why is Dr Muradov interested in IV Therapy? As mentioned above, Dr. Muradov's Naturopathic practice was heavily influenced by Dr Alan Gaby MD who also happens to be the pioneer behind the Myers cocktail, the original Vitamin Mineral IV Therapy. Dr. Gaby essentially invented the modern Myers and administered approximately 15,000 injections to an estimated 800–1,000 different patients. Furthermore, Dr. Muradov was supervised by Dr. Paul Saunders in his clinical rotation at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, who was the IV Therapy course instructor. In fact, Dr. Muradov did his IV Therapy training as a fourth year student, a relatively unheard of move so he was able to implement IV Therapy in some fashion even that early in his career. To that end, Dr. Muradov immediately began offering IV Therapy as part of his Naturopathic practice since 2010 in Edmonton. Why is Dr Muradov interested in MS?As mentioned elsewhere, Dr. Muradov was diagnosed with an aggressive variant of MS at the end of his first year of Naturopathic medical school in 2007, so Naturally its an area of focus in his Naturopathic practice. More about Dr. Deol, Dr. Sumar & Dr. Tran:Dr. Kirti Deol, started at TruMed in 2017 - Dr. Muradov sought her out because of her interest in IV Therapy and Naturopathic fertility approaches. Furthermore, her focus on an evidence-based Naturopathic approach was another reason she fit well into the vision of TruMed. She also targets the cause of a patient’s ailments and understands how imperative this is to get to the root cause of a patient's symptoms. “I believe in treating every patient differently, based on the notion that one does not treat the disease or condition, but the individual that has the disease.” - Dr. Deol Kirti maintains a general Naturopathic practice in Edmonton at TruMed with a special interest in women’s health, fertility, pediatrics and also works well with mental health, weight loss, digestive concerns, and stress management. Dr. Deol understand the importance of an Integrative Medicine model and is pleased to work with other healthcare practitioners in Edmonton as part of her Naturopathic approach (MDs, acupuncturists, psychologists, psychiatrists). Dr. Nooreen Sumar started working at TruMed in 2019 although she has been licensed in Edmonton and Alberta since 2011 after graduating from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in 2010. In 2012, Dr. Sumar added electrodermal analysis to her Naturopathic armament under mentorship from Gary Schafer ND in Sherwood Park. Dr. Muradov also received Naturopathic mentorship from Dr. Schafer but Dr. Muradov always maintained his Edmonton Practice. Dr. Sumar's unique specialty is the incorporation of electrodermal analysis, sometimes referred to as "Vega Testing" to the TruMed Naturopathic model. Electrodermal is a rapid, non-invasive, low cost testing technique that can undercover nutritional deficiencies, infections and metabolic excesses that are not easily or cost-effectively found through other test methodologies. Dr. Cindy Tran joined TruMed in 2020 2 to expand the injectable scope of the office. Dr. Tran is versed in Acupuncture and Prolotherapy as well as Intravenous Therapy. She will be receiving Intravenous Therapy mentorship under Dr. Muradov. Make it TruMedContact our Naturopaths today
